movement, and prevent muscle damage. A clinical trial
evaluating the effects of MSM on patients with osteoarthritis
reported that MSM supplementation reduced pain and
improved physical function compared to placebo. Another
study comparing the efficacy of glucosamine, MSM, and their
combination on pain relief in knee osteoarthritis found that
combination therapy reduced swelling and provided greater
pain relief and improved joint function than individual
therapy.
Devil’s Claw, a tuber from Africa contains harpagosides,
glycosides that reduce inflammation in the joints. It is used to
alleviate arthritic and overuse symptoms, and is effective for
both chronic and acute joint pain. It acts as an analgesic in
joints and seems to calm down inflammatory conditions in
the connective tissue. It can also help reduce chronic muscle
pain, such as is found in fibromyalgia. Published studies have
shown Devil’s Claw to be as effective as certain popular
arthritis drugs.

Indications:
In simple terms, Glycemic Support Complex supports healthy
glucose metabolism and insulin activity. It is indicated for
those with adult onset type 2 diabetes and those with pre-
diabetes to assist in controlling elevated glucose and lipid
concentrations. It can also be used by healthy individuals to
maintain normal blood sugar levels and avoid future
problems.
Cinnamon has been extensively researched for its potential
treatment of blood sugar swings and type 2 diabetes. In type
2 diabetes, insulin made by the pancreas can no longer get
into cells to produce energy. Since the cells are not getting
the insulin they need, the pancreas continues making more
and more. Abnormally high levels of insulin that accumulate
in the blood lead to many complications including
cardiovascular disease, stroke,, hypertension, hyperlipidemia,
kidney disease, and blindness. Extracts of Cinnamon have
been found to increase glucose uptake, glycogen synthesis
and phosphorylation of the insulin receptor. In addition,
Cinnamon also has antioxidant activity important for the
prevention of diabetes related complications.
Nopal Opuntia Cactus, also known as prickly pear cactus, is
believed to have anti-diabetic, anti-inflammatory and
antioxidant activity. Traditionally the plant was used as both a
medicine and as a source of nourishment. Its chemical
composition is similar to that of a vegetable and it has been
used as a food in the Mexican diet for centuries. It contains
an abundant amount of mucilage and fiber which very likely
play a role in its ability to delay glucose absorption. A study
investigating its hypoglycemic effects in humans found a
significant reduction of serum glucose and insulin
concentration in diabetic patients treated with Nopal.
Another study’s findings suggest that Nopal can reduce
postprandial blood glucose, serum insulin and plasma GIP
peaks, as well as increase antioxidant activity in healthy
people and patients with type 2 diabetes.
Gymnema has been used for centuries in India for the
treatment of type 2 diabetes. It increases insulin secretion
and utilization of glucose, inhibits glucose absorption from
the intestine, and helps regenerate pancreatic islet cells. The
gymnemic acid molecules found in Gymnema promote
lowered blood sugar by attaching to the external layers of the
intestine and preventing sugar molecules from being
absorbed. In addition, these molecules also bind to taste buds
in the mouth, which is why Gymnema is believed to prevent
sugar cravings.
Bitter Melon’s steroidal glycosides, alkaloids and
insulinomimetic lectins are believed to be responsible for its
anti-diabetic effects. In studies, Bitter Melon extracts have
been found to significantly improve glucose tolerance and
fasting blood glucose levels. It has also been reported to
stimulate insulin secretion and prevent glucose absorption.
