Procyanidins also increase circulation making them helpful
for conditions such as venous insufficiency (a condition in
which the veins have trouble sending blood from the legs
back to the heart). A placebo controlled study showed that
treatment with procyanidins improved venous functionality
and reduced pain, cramps, edema and paresthesias (tingling).
Due to procyanidins positive effects on circulation, grape skin
and seed extracts are helpful for numerous vision disorders.
Studies show treatment with procyanidins from the extracts
increase resistance to glare, decrease ocular stress from
prolonged activity at a computer and improve contrast
sensitivity, retinal function and sensitivity in myopia
(nearsightedness).

Arnica Oil 1:6 Topical
A popular first-aid remedy for trauma, injuries.
1 fl oz - Product Code: 57082
Arnica is the pre-eminent remedy for trauma, injuries, and
accidents and is a common part of first aid kits and home
medicine cabinets. This topical oil is massaged into painful
tissue that has been traumatized from an accident, athletic
event and overexertion. Massage Therapists and
Chiropractors commonly use arnica oil on muscle and joints
that are problematic in order to disburse congested fluids in a
painful area.
It is thought that Arnica works as a fluid transport stimulating
herb. It moves interstitual fluids through ischemic tissue.
Ischemic tissue is tissue that has diminished oxygen content
because of restricted blood and fluid flow. This action by
Arnica on the painful tissue helps it heal and stop the pain
cycle. As a result of the increased circulation, cellular waste is
removed, bruises clear up, pain diminishes, tissue heals,
tissue oxygenates and recovery time is significantly reduced.
Athletes find arnica reduces potential for injury, reduces
recovery time from injury and bruising.
Arnica Topical Oil is great for the daily bumps and bruises
inevitable in life and especially childhood. It is safe for kids.
Ingredients:
Phyto-Tech™ Arnica Oil 1:6 Topical contains the following:
Arnica montana Flowers (Wild Harvested), Sage Essential Oil,
Extra Virgin Cold Pressed Olive Oil,
Note: First extracted in alcohol and oil to maximize potency,
then the alcohol is removed.
Special Note:
Most Arnica on the market is “Mexican”
Arnica. This is commonly Heterothica inuloides, an
adulterant and is not true Arnica. The Vitality Works Arnica
products are made from the true European Arnica montana.
Cautions: Do not apply to open wounds, ulcerations or on
areas prone to bleeding; Do not take internally; Discontinue
use if very sensitive skin results in a rash.

Diabetes Prevention: Nutrients Resveratrol, Zinc, Magnesium,
Choline, Phytonutrients May Reduce Chances of Type 2 Diabetes
Resveratrol and Hesperetin
In the first part of this study, doctors in the
lab introduced trans-resveratrol and
hesperetin into a cell culture and found these
two nutrients triggered an enzymatic process
that reduces the harmful effects of sugar on
the body.
Next, to follow up on these "test-tube"
results, they moved to a second part of the
study, where 32 men and women, aged 18 to
80, who were overweight or obese, took high
daily doses of trans-resveratrol and
hesperetin, or a placebo.
After eight weeks, those in the resveratrol-
hesperetin group who had body-mass index
scores of more than 27.5 saw increases in the
enzymatic activity that protects the body from
excess sugar. Also, doctors saw improved
insulin activity, better artery function, and
reduced inflammation in blood vessels. There
were no changes for placebo.
Discussing the findings, doctors said trans-
resveratrol with hesperetin may help reduce
chances for diabetes and heart disease,
particularly in those who are obese.

Plant-based Diets Shown
to Reduce Incidence of
Type-2 Diabetes
In one of the largest, long-term diet studies,
200,727 men and women who were healthy
at the beginning reported their diets every
two to four years over a 25-year follow-up
period. Doctors classified foods according to
plant or animal source, and gave each a
positive or negative index score.
Whole grains, fruits, vegetables, nuts, and
legumes were positive, while fruit juices,
sweetened beverages, refined grains,
potatoes, and desserts were negative. Animal
foods including fats, dairy, eggs, fish, seafood,
meat, and poultry also got a negative index
rating.
Overall, those who consumed a diet
emphasizing plant-based foods and
deemphasizing animal-based foods were 20
percent less likely to develop type 2 diabetes.
In an interesting finding, people whose
diets focused on low-quality plant-based
foods, such as sweetened beverages, saw
chances for type 2 diabetes increase.

Choline & Betaine Reduce
Insulin Resistance and
Reduce Incidence of Type-
2 Diabetes
Choline and betaine aid liver function, and
help cells reproduce.
In this study, doctors measured the diets of
2,394 adults from the general population.
Both men and women who got the most
choline and betaine had the least insulin
resistance, while men and women who got
the least choline and betaine had the greatest
insulin resistance.
When insulin resistance is high, the body
needs larger amounts of insulin to metabolize
and use glucose, or sugar. Chances for
developing type 2 diabetes increase as insulin
resistance becomes more severe.
Doctors said choline and betaine could
help alleviate inflammation, reduce oxidative
stress, and help normalize metabolism,
reducing chances for developing type 2
diabetes.

Magnesium
Supplementation Reduces
Chances for Diabetes
Doctors who reviewed 18 diabetes studies
said that good magnesium levels in the diet
reduce chances of developing type 2
diabetes. In nine of the studies covering 670
people, those taking magnesium supplements
had lower fasting blood sugar levels
compared to placebo.
In three of the studies, covering 453
people, those who took a magnesium
supplement had better blood sugar levels
compared to placebo two hours after a meal.
And, in five of the studies, doctors found
those with better magnesium levels from diet
and supplements had less insulin resistance.
Discussing the findings, doctors said taking
magnesium supplements has a beneficial
role, improves glucose handling in those with
diabetes, and improves insulin sensitivity in
those who have greater chances of
developing type 2 diabetes.

Nutrition; August, 2016, Published Online)
Note: Research such as the study presented above, highlighting the importance of magnesium supplementation, is what led Willner Chemists to increase the level of magnesium in our
multivitamin-multimineral supplement, Willvite. A full dose of Willvite, four tablets, now provides 600 mg of magnesium (rather than the 400 mg previously), and the calcium level has been
reduced from 1000 mg to 800 mg.
