symptoms.
Complimentary Formulas:
• Many herbalists feel that allergies are a symptom of liver
deficiency, and recommend taking Phyto-Tech™ Liver
Support along with Allergy Complex.
• Eyebright, Nettle and Ambrosia are anti-histamine in
action. Yerba Santa helps decongest. Tumeric treats liver
deficiency which almost all hay fever is a symptom of. By

Indications:
Phyto-Tech™ Allergy Relief is indicated for those who suffer
from any condition related to allergies, such as hay fever,
asthma, conjunctivitis, eczema, skin rashes and hives. It will
help to block the production and release of histamine,
reducing inflammation and congestion. Allergies are triggered
when the immune system overreacts to allergens such as
pollen, ragweed, animal dander, dust, wheat protein, etc.,
and signals the body to release histamine and other
inflammatory chemicals to counter the allergen. It is
histamine and these other chemicals that are responsible for
allergic symptoms such as itchy, nose, eyes, ears, throat and
skin, runny nose, red, watery eyes, nasal and sinus
congestion, asthma, rashes, hives and headaches. Allergy
Relief helps block histamine production, prevent histamine
release and reduce the inflammation that is the cause of
many allergy symptoms. If started prior to the onset of
allergies, Allergy Relief can increase the resistance to allergens
and reduce allergic reactions. If one is already suffering from
acute allergies, Allergy Relief will help prevent additional
histamine release, reduce inflammation and ease symptoms.
Allergy Relief can also be used for injuries, accidents, surgery,
and exercise overexertion as it will help reduce pain,
inflammation, and swelling resulting from tissue damage and
bruising.
Quercetin belongs to the flavonoids family and is found
naturally in many vegetables, fruits, herbs, tea and wine. It
has anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antihistamine, and anti-
proliferative (inhibits cell growth) properties. It acts similar to
an antihistamine and inhibits histamine release by stabilizing
mast cells and basophils, thereby preventing allergic
reactions. It’s been shown to reduce inflammation through
several mechanisms, including inhibition of inflammatory
mediators such as neutrophil lysosomal enzyme secretion and
leukotriene production, and blocking of cyclooxygenase
(COX) and lipooxygenase (LOX) activities. For asthma,
Quercetin is an effective bronchodilator that reduces airway
constriction to restore oxygen flow. Studies suggest it might
also block certain anaphylactic reactions by inhibiting
anaphylactic contraction in smooth muscle. Quercetin is the
most powerful scavenger of reactive oxygen species (ROS) in
the flavonoid family. Clinical studies have found it to have
beneficial effects on cardiovascular health, such as improving
blood pressure and inhibiting platelet aggregation and
thrombus formation.
Bromelain is a proteolytic enzyme derived from pineapple.
Studies show it enhances the absorption of Quercetin and
shares similar antihistamine and Leukotriene-inhibiting
properties. It works synergistically with Quercetin to reduce
the inflammation and swelling that cause many allergy
symptoms, and via its proteolytic enzyme activity, helps break
down protein molecules that cause tissue irritation and
allergic reactions. It is a useful treatment for sinus and nasal
swelling and may help reduce nasal mucus and cough
associated with sinusitis. By stimulating production and
release of anti-inflammatory prostaglandins and preventing
release of pro-inflammatory ones, Bromelain will reduce pain

You have probably heard of the herb
Ashwagandha. What you may not know is
that In Sanskrit, Ashwagandha means "the
smell of a horse!"
Why would you take an herb that means
"the smell of a horse"-unless, of course, you
were another horse? Well, what it really
means is to impart the vigor and strength of a
horse. Thus, Ashwagandha is one of the most
powerful herbs in Ayurvedic medicine. The
herb contains many compounds with
medicinal benefits. This includes support for
the immune system, high antioxidant
properties, and as an "adaptogen," which
helps the body adjust to stress.
The benefits of Ashwagandha are supported
by numerous medical studies. Here are two
recent examples:
Weight Loss and Chronic Stress
Chronic stress is linked to many health
conditions, with one of the most common
being obesity. In this study, 52 adults under
chronic stress took a placebo or 300 mg of
ashwagandha twice per day.
After eight weeks, the placebo group had
lost 1.5 percent of body weight compared to
3 percent weight loss for those taking
ashwagandha. Body mass index scores also
improved, with the placebo group improving
1.4 percent, and the ashwagandha group
improving 3 percent.

Cardio-Respiratory Endurance
Doctors wanted to test the effects on
endurance and quality of life in healthy,
athletic male and female adults. In this study,
50 healthy, athletic men and women, age 20
to 45, with normal body mass index scores
between 18.5 and 24.9, took a placebo or
300 mg of ashwagandha root extract twice
per day.
After eight weeks, compared to the start of
the study, those taking ashwagandha saw an
increase in maximum oxygen capacity 3.5
times greater than the placebo group. After
12 weeks, those taking ashwagandha saw a
further 15 percent increase in maximum
oxygen capacity, which was also three times
greater than the increase in the placebo
group.
Those taking ashwagandha reported better
psychological health and having more positive
social relationships.

Health Benefits of the Ancient
Ayurvedic Herb Ashwagandha
Ayurvedic medicine has introduced us to
some of the most powerfully healing herbs
in use today. Many of these herbs are
effective in treating modern day health
problems and ashwagandha might be one
of the most important. The studies shown
here, although interesting, barely scratch
the surface of the benefits this remarkable
herb has to offer.
The term adaptogen is used to describe
an herb that can increase resistance and
help adapt to biological stress in order to
maintain internal stability. The harmful
effects of stress that contribute to many
degenerative diseases must be dealt with in
a way that brings balance. The restorative
actions of ashwagandha can help do that.
Many of the adverse effects of stress are
thought to be related to elevated levels of
cortisol.
While taking ashwagandha, participants
in one study reported increased energy,
reduced fatigue, better sleep, enhanced
sense of well-being with a reduction of
cortisol levels up to 26%, as well as a
decline in fasting blood sugar levels and
improved lipid profile.
Ashwagandha, also known as withania
somnifera, has been investigated for
antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anticancer,
anti-stress, and adaptogenic properties.
Studies have found that ashwagandha is
useful for treating anxiety, stress, lower
cortisol (a stress hormone), insomnia,
inflammation, cholesterol, increased
strength, immunity, muscle recovery,
thyroid, fertility, and weight loss.
According to an article from Life
Extension, ashwagandha is able not only to
relieve stress, but also protect brain cells.
At the Toyama Medical and Pharmaceutical
University in Japan, scientists were looking
for ways to encourage the regeneration of
nerve cells in the human brain and noted
that ashwagandha supported significant
regeneration of the axons, dendrites and
the reconstruction of synapses, the
junctions where nerve cells communicate.
The investigators concluded that
ashwagandha extract is a potential
treatment for neurodegenerative diseases
such as Alzheimer's.
Ashwagandha also shows promise as a
treatment for Parkinson's disease. In a
recent study using a standardized model of
human Parkinson's disease, ashwagandha
extract reversed Parkinson's-type
neurodegeneration significantly.
Ashwagandha is a great supplement to
reduce immunosuppression and makes a
great adjuvant therapy, meaning it can and
should be taken alongside other treatments
ease side effects of chemotherapy treatment
while reducing stress and fatigue.
