Who would benefit from taking this supplement? Women experi-
encing the following problems may find this herb helpful: PMS,
menstrual cramps, uncomfortable menopausal symptoms.
Black Cohosh is considered by herbalists to be a distinctive
woman’s remedy. It stimulates delayed menses as an emmenogogue
while relaxing the muscles around the uterine area to help decrease
menstrual cramps. It can help PMS symptoms and help to regulate a
woman back into a more normal cycle. It can also help amenorrhea
and dysmenorrhea. It is commonly combined with Chaste Tree Berry
and Dong Quai Root.
It is also a famous remedy in menopause. German studies show
that Black Cohosh will diminish the negative side effects of
menopause by improving symptoms such as hot flashes, perspira-
tion, heart palpitations, nervousness and irritability, sleep problems
and depression. Research suggests estrogenic activity in the alcoholic
extract, inhibiting LH but not follicle stimulating hormone. Some
research refutes estrogen activity and suggests neurotransmitter inter-
ference. It either fools the pituitary from looking for leutinizing hor-
mone or actually inhibits LH. This results in a decrease in the above-
mentioned symptoms and exerts a most positive effect on
menopause.

Black Walnut Hull
Black Walnut Hull
This herb is traditionally used to support intestinal health.
The Black Walnut used in this supplement is derived from the
hulls while in their green state. This is when they are most potent.
Who would benefit from this supplement? Those who are con-
cerned about possible parasite, fungal or bacterial infections, includ-
ing candidiasis; those with gastrointestinal problems such as indiges-
tion, diarrhea and constipation.
Fresh Black Walnut Hulls are harvested in their green state (before
they blacken) where they are more potent. Black Walnut’s two main
active chemicals are juglone and tannins. Juglone is antibiotic and
antifungal and has a normalizing effect on intestinal tissue Tannins
are astringents that reduce secretions, relieve irritation and tighten
tissues by shrinking the top layers of the skin. These properties led to
the use of Black Walnut Hull for treating gastrointestinal problems
such as indigestion, diarrhea and constipation. It is also considered a
strong killer of fungal infections such as athletes’ foot, Candida
Albicans and other internal and topical fungal infections. It is a great
addition to a Candida treatment protocol.
Black Walnut Hull also enjoys a reputation as a parasite killer. It
will help to destroy amoebas, protozoans (giardia, blastocytis homin-
is), pinworms, tinneas and ringworm. Use larger doses once a para-
sitic infection is in place. Often, treatment needs go for one month
in order to kill parasites in all cycles or forms from adult to egg. It
can be combined with other anti-parasitic treatment. Black Walnut
Hull can be used preventitively if one is traveling to an area where
parasites are common or unusual. Take Black Walnut Hull for a few
days prior to when one leaves the area and continue taking the
entire length of the trip. One must still use common sense and avoid
possible parasite contaminated food and drink. Common symptoms
of intestinal parasites are diarrhea, gas or bloating, nausea or vomit-
ing, stomach pain or tenderness, fatigue or weakness, weight loss
and presence of worms in stool. If you suspect you have a parasite
infestation, consult with a physician.
Cautions: Prolonged use is not advised.

Magnesium Improves Metabolic
Factors
In this study, 14,338 adults told doctors
what they had eaten in the last 24 hours.
Those with good magnesium levels from
foods had lower systolic blood pressure and
higher HDL cholesterol levels. Those who
also took magnesium supplements had these
benefits plus smaller waist size.
Men and women who got enough magne-
sium from foods were less likely to develop
metabolic syndrome, be overweight or
obese, or have high blood pressure, and
were more likely to have higher HDL levels.
Those who also took magnesium supple-
ments had these benefits as well as lower
long-term average blood sugar levels.
This is just one more piece of evidence
supporting the importance of ensuring opti-
mal magnesium levels. Based upon the accu-
mulating knowledge about magnesium,
Willner Chemists adjusted the level of mag-
nesium and calcium in the multivitamin sup-
plements, Willvite. Four Willvite tablets per
day provides not only a full, balanced spec-
trum of vitamins and trace minerals, but also
a full day’s recommended supply of magne-
sium and calcium.

Iodine Reduces Cholesterol
The thyroid gland produces the hormone
that regulates how quickly the body uses
energy, and needs sufficient levels of iodine
in order to do so. If thyroid hormone is low,
the body will release thyroid-stimulating hor-
mone (TSH) to prod the thyroid to produce
more. Elevated TSH levels are linked to high-
er cholesterol levels.
In this study, doctors gave 163 iodine-defi-
cient, overweight and obese Moroccan
women 200 mcg of iodine per day, or a
placebo. After six months, the iodine group
had TSH levels 33 percent lower than place-
bo, and higher thyroid hormone levels. The
iodine group also saw total cholesterol levels
decline by 11 percent, and 21.5 percent had
elevated cholesterol levels compared to 34.8
percent in the placebo group.

Vitamin D And Breast Cancer
In 2002, doctors advised postmenopausal
women on hormone replacement therapy
(HRT) of an increase in chances for breast
cancer. Earlier studies suggested vitamin D
might protect against breast cancer, particu-
larly estrogen-receptor positive tumors.
In this study, 57,403 postmenopausal
women completed questionnaires every few
years from 1990 to 2008, reporting on diet,
vitamin D from supplements and diet, HRT,
and other factors.
Overall, women who were currently taking
vitamin D supplements were 18 percent less
likely to have developed breast cancer com-
pared to women who had used vitamin D in
the past or to women who had never used
vitamin D at all.
Doctors found the greatest benefit among
women who had been on HRT and who
continued taking vitamin D: chances for
developing breast cancer were 26 percent
lower.
