It contains key polyphenols such as eugenol, ursolic acid and rosmarinic acid that fight inflammation, inhibit production of COX-2 enzymes, and act as strong antioxidants to fight free radicals and protect cells from oxidative damage. Green Tea's powerful antioxidants help reduce inflammation by inhibiting interleukin-1 beta-induced activity and expression of COX-2 and nitric oxide synthase-2 in chondrocytes. It is rich in polyphenols, particularly epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG). Peer-reviewed scientific research has shown that EGCG is a potent antioxidant that deactivates health damaging free radicals. Rosmarinic Acid, naturally found in Rosemary, is a polyphenolic compound with strong antioxidant capabilities. Studies have demonstrated it to reduce inflammation and help in the treatment of inflammatory conditions. Boswellia has been used for centuries to treat various types of chronic inflammatory diseases. The resinous part of Boswellia contains four major pentacyclic triterpenic acids, which inhibit specific enzymes that cause inflammation.
