Moving On is a non-cramping, gentle formula. Cascara is a predictable laxative that increases peristalsis. It softens the stool by helping it to move out more quickly and can assist in painful bowel movements. Yellow Dock stimulates bile production and is often used as a digestive bitter for those with poor digestion. Increasing bile output causes peristalsis to increase which helps assist in normal healthy bowel function. Yellow Dock contains small amounts of anthraquinone glycosides, which give it mild laxative effects. Yellow Dock also promotes the absorption of nutrients by the ileum. Triphala has been used in the Ayurvedic system of medicine for thousands of years as a bowel tonic and whole body rejuvenator. The formula consists of the three fruits: amalaki, haritaki, and bibhitaki. The combination balances the system by enhancing digestion, drawing stagnated wastes out of the intestines, and gently encouraging healthy and complete elimination. Similar in action to Yellow Dock, Oregon Grape and Gentian are bitters that stimulate the liver to produce more bile and other liver enzymes. Licorice is soothing to the digestive tract and is known for healing stomach and duodenal ulcers. Ginger will increase digestive enzymes and speed up the transit time of food that is slow. It essentially increases the fire of digestion. It has a history of use in foods to help digest and move them through the digestive tract.
