Many consider Valerian to be the strongest western herbal central nervous system sedative. Valerian will quiet a busy mind. It can promote sleep for those who cannot fall asleep and helps those who wake up in the middle of the night. Repeat the doses as needed within a night to facilitate sleep. The liquid is significantly faster in action compared to a tablet or capsule, which must be digested before it can be absorbed, so liquids are preferred for fastest action. It will help calm one down when going through difficult emotional and mental times or when in therapy and in turmoil. Taking Valerian during the day can make one feel tired, sedated or a little out of it. Thus, caution is advised. This can sometimes be controlled my altering the dosage. Many consider valerian to be the strongest western herbal painkiller as well. It will reduce pain in the musculo-skeletal system (i.e. muscle and joint pain from injury, accidents, work outs, surgeries). Valerian may be enough to control pain after relatively mild surgeries or dental procedures. It is also a smooth muscle relaxer for pain from menstrual cramps, digestive cramps, gall bladder and kidney stones. According to herbalists, Valerian will not remove all pain like a pharmaceutical pain killer but will instead, reduce the percent of pain recognition by 10-50%. Contrary to popular belief, Valium was not derived from Valerian. They sound alike and are used for similar conditions, but are not related. The generally acknowledged active constituent, especially for purposes of standardization, is valerenic acid. Ingredients: Phyto-Tech™ Valerian Root 1:2 contains Fresh Valerian Root, 500 mg/ml. White Willow Bark 1:2 White Willow is one of the herbs originally associated with aspirin. White Willow (and Meadowsweet) contains salicin, a substance that reduces pain and inflammation. A chemical derivative of salicin, acetylsalicic acid, is aspirin. Like aspirin, White Willow has a mild “blood thinning” action, which is usually considered beneficial to the heart and circulatory system. 1 fl oz - Product Code: 57044 Who might benefit from this herbal supplement? • Those who need relief from pain, including headache pain, arthritic or joint pain, etc. Ingredients: Phyto-Tech™ White Willow Bark 1:2 contains White Willow Bark, Alcohol, Pure Grain, Water, Pure Deionized Women’s Energy Tonic A combination of herbs that function as adaptogens, hormone balancers and circulatory stimulants. 1 fl oz - Product Code: 57086 Who might benefit from this herbal supplement? • Those women that help optimizing hormone balance; • Those women seeking an increase in energy and vitality; • Those women who need protection against the negative effect of stress; • Those women with mood swings, irritability, fatigue, PMS, stress, low libido and mild depression. Product Reference Guide: Willner Chemists Phyto-Tech™ Herbal Supplements Ayurvedic Herb, Amla, Reduces Metabolic Syndrome N ew research suggests choline and DHA work together to support fetal brain and eye development in expectant mothers, and most people do not get enough of these nutrients. This large review of human clinical trials, animal models, and cell cultures, reveals expectant mothers need more choline with DHA for healthy fetal organ cell-membranes, eye photoreceptor cells, and brain nerve-cell development. Also, children with higher choline levels had better academic achievement, regardless of social class or family income. Doctors concluded choline and DHA interact to support brain and eye health. (Reference: Nutrients; May, 2019, Vol. 11, No. 5, 1125) Choline & DHA Supplementation During Pregnancy P eople with metabolic syndrome usually have excess fat around the waist and abdomen plus several other factors including high blood pressure, blood sugar, and triglycerides, and low levels of HDL, the good cholesterol. Amla, from the Indian gooseberry tree, is popular in Ayurvedic medicine as an anti- inflammatory tonic that supports normal blood pressure. In this study, 59 people with metabolic syndrome took a placebo or 250 mg or 500 mg of amla twice per day. After 12 weeks, while the placebo group had not significantly improved, the low- and high-dose amla groups saw 42 and 51 percent increases, respectively, in nitric oxide, the molecule that relaxes the smooth muscle lining the blood vessels. The inflammatory factor, high- sensitivity C-reactive protein, also decreased 40 and 54 percent, respectively. Triglycerides, and total and LDL cholesterols declined in both amla groups, and HDL increased 7.33 and 22.16 percent, respectively. Doctors said amla, along with lifestyle modifications, may help manage metabolic syndrome.
