tary training studies have meas-
ured calcium and bone status.
In this study, 243 men and
women in basic combat training
took 2,000 mg of calcium plus
1,000 IU of vitamin D per day, or
a placebo. After nine weeks, com-
pared to placebo, signs of calcium
available for maintaining bone,
and signs of bone formation
were much higher in the calci-
um and vitamin D group.

Curcumin and muscle pain
Days after intense exercise, oxidative stress
and inflammation can overcome the body’s
antioxidant defenses, leading to muscle sore-
ness and damage.
In this study, 20 non-smoking men who
performed regular aerobic exercise for at
least four hours per week took 200 mg of
curcumin twice per day, or a placebo, begin-
ning 48 hours before a running test. On day
three, the men took a 45-minute treadmill
running test, on a specially prepared 10-per-
cent downhill slope. After taking curcumin or
placebo for one more day, the men reported

Willvite, the complete multivitamin multimineral
New, Revised Formula ~ Available Now!
A complete, balanced multivitamin-multimineral formula that contains not only all of
the essential vitamins, antioxidants and trace minerals, but also a full days require-
ment of calcium and magnesium.
Calcium and magnesium, as well as the other minerals, are no less important to your
health than the vitamins. Do not make the critical mistake of only taking a vitamin
supplement. It is impossible to get your daily calcium and/or magnesium require-
ments from any one-a-day or two-a-day multivitamin supplement. A balanced multivi-
tamin-multimineral formula should be the cornerstone, or foundation, of your supple-
ment regimen. Additional supplements can be added to your program, depending on
your particular health needs and concerns. Willvite is best taken two tablets, twice a
day. This will provide for maximum utilization, especially for the water-soluble vitamins
and minerals.

Iron-Free!
It is impossible to include the daily requirement of calcium and magnesium in one
or two tablets or capsules. This makes it necessary to take at least two separate prod-
ucts, a multivitamin along with a calcium-magnesium supplement, to get a full
dosage of vitamins, trace minerals, calcium, and magnesium. An alternative is to take
one product that contains that amount of
calcium and magnesium. To accommodate
this, the daily dose must be a minimum of
four tablets or six capsules. The advantage
is that a full day's requirement of all essen-
tial vitamins and minerals can be obtained
from only one product.
Products meeting this requirement are
intended to serve as a balanced, broad-
spectrum basic multivitamin-multimineral
supplement, and are an ideal foundation
product upon which a personalized pro-
gram can be designed.
Willvite has been revised and reformulat-
ed to reflect the latest developmens in
nutritional research. The amount of calcium
has been reduced, for example, and the amount of magnesium has been increased.
We have increased the vitamin D levels. The amounts of selenium and chromium
have been lowered, to accomodate those who take additional supplements along
with Willvite. Important nutrients such as lycopene have been added, and the
CoQ10 level has been increased. The most active, co-enzyme forms of vitamins and
chelated minerals have been utilized.
Willvite is available in a regular and iron-free version. 120 Tablets per bottle.
Recommended dosage: 2 tablets, twice a day.

Calcium, vitamin D, and bone
Military training exercises put unusual stress
on the body, and 40 percent of male and 60
percent of female new recruits who suffer
bone stress fractures can’t complete their
training. Earlier studies suggested calcium
and vitamin D might reduce fracture in
female military during training, but no mili-
Calcium Timing
The body must keep calcium levels in bal-
ance to maintain bone, and too much exer-
cise can disturb this balance, depleting bone
even in young, healthy men. In this study, 33
postmenopausal women took a sports-drink
with a placebo or with 1,000 mg of calcium,
an hour before or 15 minutes before a one-
hour-long brisk walk.
While the 15-minutes-before-exercise cal-
cium group saw calcium levels decline, the
one-hour-before-exercise calcium group
maintained calcium levels and had better
signs of bone formation.
Doctors said the findings confirm earlier
bone studies and suggest the timing of taking
calcium before exercise plays an important
bone-regulating role.
